- Davidson Institute for Talent Development
The Davidson Institute (www.davidson-institute.org) is a non-profit, national organization that offers free resources to profoundly intelligent young people from the ages 4-18 and their parents.
The Davidson Institute also gives out a number of yearly fellowships of $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000 to young people who complete prodigious works that will benefit society (http://www.davidsonfellows.org).
We have an on-line library of full-text articles, links, reviews, and more about the research and thought on how to best serve the profoundly intelligent population (www.gtcybersource.org).

- Definition of Gifted
Former U. S. Commissioner of Education Sidney P. Marland, Jr., in his August 1971 report to Congress, stated, "Gifted and talented children are those identified by professionally qualified persons who by virtue of outstanding abilities are capable of high performance."These are children who require differentiated educational programs and/or services beyond those normally provided by the regular school program in order to realize their contribution to self and society" (Marland, 1972).
